Verderese powers Mercer to victory

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP -- Freshman Anthony Verderese went 5-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Mercer County Community College baseball team to a 16-9 victory over Gloucester yesterday.

Russ Stupienski had two hits with three RBIs, and James Lauer hit a three-run home run to lead Mercer's 20-hit attack.

Shawn Reindel (5-1) notched the victory in relief, allowing four hits and one earned run in two innings for the Vikings (16-11).
