Lou
Gehrig Fall Ball

In Fall Baseball playoff action, Hamilton Lou Gehrig A defeated
Pennsbury A, 11 - 0,
Pitching was the key, as TJ Hargraves, Jeff Karczewski, and Jeff
Zimmer combined to throw a one hitter.
The game was scoreless until the third inning, when the bottom
of the order helped jump start what turned into a six run inning.
Anthony Chiappetta started things off with a walk, followed by singles
by Chris Pierfy and Judy Galayda, which scored Chiappetta. Ross
Nanfeldt drove both remaining runners home with a double. One out
later, a walk to Asa Rodriguez was then followed by an RBI single
by Karczewski. Zimmer capped off the scoring with a two run double.
This was more than enough runs for Lou Gehrig, as Hargraves set
the tone by throwing three perfect innings. He recorded 4 strikeouts,
and did not allow a ball to leave the infield.
In the fifth inning, Pennsbury recorded their first hit on a hard
hit ball to right field. This was their first hit in 12 innings
against Lou Gehrig. Helping the cause were many fine plays, including
nice plays by third baseman Dan Elliott, nice stretches by First
Baseman Alex Wolfinger, a leaping grab of an errant throw at first
by Zimmer, and a run down started by Chiappeta.
