In Fall Baseball playoff action, Hamilton Lou Gehrig B defeated
Pennsbury B, 12 - 1.
Lou Gehrig took advantage of nine walks and three hit batsmen to
jump to a 9-0 lead after two innings. Tony Donahue delivered the
first hit for Lou Gehrig with an RBI single in the second inning.
Joe Spiegel set the tone in the first inning for Lou Gehrig when
he raced into right center field to catch a sinking line drive.
He turned it into an inning ending double play by throwing to first
ahead of the runner. Starting pitcher Josh Flesch relied on his
defense as he threw 3 shutout innings.
Offensively, Lou Gehrig was paced by Drew Muscente, who had a single
and 3 runs scored. Angel Torres also did well at the plate, adding
a single, a run scored, and a sacrifice fly.
Larry Motchnik and Rich Nylander came on to finish the game on
the mound. In total, Lou Gehrig allowed just three hits and struck
out four in five innings of play.
NOTES:
Lou Gehrig B will face Lou Gehrig A for the Group Championship.
The game is scheduled for Wednesday 10/27at 7 p.m. in Pennsbury.
Directions:
To get to Pennsbury field, take Route 1 South. Exit at Market Street,
and cross into Pennsylvania. Make your first right onto River Road.
Continue on River Road past the light at the Calhoun Street Bridge,
and contniue for about 2 miles. The complex is on the left hand
side, just past a cemetery. You have gone too far if you get to
the large railroad bridge. You can also cross into PA using the
Calhoun Street Bridge.
